Cool Color Picker

Posted by Cenay Nailor  | Published in Free Resources

Okay, you’ve been online a while and finally mastered the whole *create a blog* or *build a capture page* thingy. One thing plaguing you though…every time you want to change a color on your theme, you have to stop, go open a program that will display the colors and let you choose, then copy the HTML codes to create that color.

What a pain in the butt.

Well my friends, I found a really cool tool that loads up on your computer and will let you choose any color you can see! It also contains a visible color *library* so you can select from a master set of colors.

It will optionally output the color codes in a variety of *types*, like HTML, Delphi, RGB, VB and C++.

I set it to load up at Windows startup so it’s always available… a quick keystroke, and *bam*, the color picker is right under my mouse cursor, all I have to do is click to select. The floating toolbar makes it easy to open the library for the master set of colors, or see the 7 most recent colors I selected.

Trust me when I tell you, if you do ANY web site design or blog tweaking… then you need this tool.

Oh, and did I mention? Yep, it’s free.

You can download AdesClrPicker here.

3 Ways To Avoid Information Overload

Posted by Cenay Nailor  | Published in Business Building Tools, Ramblings

by Cenay Nailor

Do you ever feel like if you learn/see/hear one more thing, you brain will start leaking out of your ears? Welcome to Information Overload .

I feel your pain.

I keep hearing from all the trainers, coaches and guru’s that it’s simple . And they each list "everything" you should do to be successful.

And guess what? Their lists don’t match!

Each trainer/coach/guru lists 5-9 things you MUST do to be successful online. How do you know which is really the one that you need to do?

Well, frankly, it’s gonna depend on you. I know that wasn’t what you wanted to hear, but dang-it, it’s the truth and I promised you truth above all, right from the beginning. It’s going to depend on your goals, the results you are expecting and the method you choose to give you those results.

But I digress. We are talking about how to avoid information overload.

It’s a matter of mindset, discipline and habits. When you are first starting out with a new "prospecting" method like using the Internet, you need to do some research, explore your options and then pick one .

Notice I didn’t say buy every book or product out there to teach yourself, nor did I say read only one . You do need an overview of what’s possible. And you need to know who is doing it successfully. But in the end, you need to choose one thing and then master it. Test it. Track it. Apply it. Study it. Don’t move onto the next "method" or "process", until you have the first one "down pat".

Trust me, I know it will be tempting to spend all your time researching, buying books that promise you 3 simple steps to financial freedom or listening to training calls from marketing guru’s morning, noon and night. But do you know why it will be tempting? Because if you are still researching and studying, you aren’t doing .

If you aren’t doing, you aren’t failing. Can you say "comfort zone"?

Listen, the number ONE reason you will succeed in this (or any) business, isn’t the marketing method, or the capture page, or the autoresponder (although these are all important pieces of the puzzle). No, the number one reason you will succeed, is because you took action. Massive action. Focused action. And you can’t do that if you are still chasing the hype.

There are thousands, no - tens of thousands of people on the Internet today, all hawking their "get rich quick" products, books and training courses. Each one promises you that you can quit your day job, fire your boss and retire in 1 year.

Tell me . . . in your heart . . . do you really think that is possible?

Nope, me either.

Success requires work. Anyone who tells you they have a system you just have to join to be massively wealthy overnight is flat out lying to you. But, I digress again. Sorry for the rant.

To Avoid Information Overload

1. (Focus ) Train yourself to look at one thing at a time. For example, if you are building a list using free traffic techniques, focus on that. All your efforts should be on that one thing until you can do it in your sleep.

2. (Consistency ) Train yourself to be consistent. You can’t succeed doing something only when you have extra time , or when everything else "pressing" is done. Allocate [X] minutes/hours per day for that task, and do it. No matter what.

Not doing it is only hurting you.

Don’t let obligations to others short-change you . If you are spending all your time doing something for someone else, who is growing your business? Short Answer? No one .

3. (Action ) Train yourself to be action oriented. If you are lying awake at night and an idea about how to do (better) what you are trying to do flitters across your brain, do it. The very next day. Take action. Even if it’s wrong action, it’s still got value to you, especially if you are tracking and testing like you should be. It is teaching you what doesn’t work .

You should have noticed that all three things I listed involved the word "Train ". That’s not an accident. You control your success or failure. No one else. Do you want it? Then train for it.

Alright, this post turned into a kind of a rant, and I am sorry about that. I just get so frustrated when I start mentoring someone and they come to the "table" with 43 eBooks, 14 DVD’s and 29 CD’s but not one single "action" under their belts.

I blame it on Information Overload.

Metrics That Matter in SEO

Posted by Cenay Nailor  | Published in Network Marketing

What’s hot, and what’s not, with SEO

By: Stephan Spencer

Out with the old, in with the new. In terms of SEO, what’s falling by the wayside?

  • Obsessively watching indexation numbers and rankings on “trophy” keywords (like the one you know the CEO always checks first thing in the morning).
  • Worrying yourself sick over “duplicate content penalties.”
  • Relying on Sitemap XML files to fix your indexation problems (News flash: Your rankings will still stink!).
  • Exchanging links.

What’s hot in SEO?

  • Truly understanding and leveraging the power of “long tail” dynamics.
  • Becoming a trusted contributor within Wikipedia, Digg, StumbleUpon, Netscape and Reddit.
  • Building your network in MySpace, Flickr, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bebo, MyBlogRoll and the blogosphere in general, and then reaping the rewards of “network effects.”
  • Building custom search engines and rallying your community to help improve it.
  • Link baiting.

So how do you measure the impact of this sort of stuff? A new generation of SEO metrics, that’s how. Gauging your success on your positions in the search engine results pages is so last century.

New SEO paradigms, such as the “long tail” and personalized search, call for new key performance indicators (KPIs). In addressing “long tail” SEO specifically, some of my Netconcepts’ colleagues cleverly came up with the following KPIs:

Brand-to-nonbrand Ratio
This is the percentage of your natural search traffic that comes from brand keywords versus nonbrand keywords.

If the ratio is high and most of your traffic is coming from searches for your brand, this signals your SEO is fundamentally broken. The lower the ratio, the more of the “long tail” of natural search you are likely capturing. This metric is an excellent gauge of the success of your optimization initiatives.

Unique Pages
This is the number of unique (non-duplicate) web pages crawled by search engine spiders such as Googlebot.

Your website is like your "virtual sales force," bringing in prospects from the search engines. Think of each unique page as one of your virtual salespeople. The more unique pages you have, the more opportunities you have to sell through the search engines.

Page Yield
This is the percentage of unique pages that yield search-delivered traffic in a given month.

This ratio essentially is a key driver of the length of your “long tail” of natural search. The more pages that yield traffic from search engines, the healthier your SEO program. If you have only a small portion of your website delivering searchers to your door, then most of your pages, your virtual salespeople, are warming the bench instead of working hard for you. My colleague Brian Klais has a name for the webpages that aren’t driving any search traffic — freeloaders.

Keyword Yield
This is the average number of keywords each page (minus the freeloaders) yields in a given month. Put another way, it’s the ratio of keywords to pages yielding search traffic.

The higher your keyword yield, the more of the “long tail” of natural search your site will capture. In other words, the more keywords each yielding page attracts or targets, the longer your tail. So an average of eight search terms per page indicates pages with much broader appeal to the engines than, say, three search terms per page.
The average merchant in our study had 2.4 keywords per page.

Visitors Per Keyword
This is the ratio of search engine delivered visitors to search terms.

This metric indicates how much traffic each keyword drives and is a function of your rankings in the search engine result pages. Put another way, this metric determines the height or thickness of your “long tail.”

The average merchant in our study obtained 1.9 visitors per keyword.

Index-to-crawl Ratio
This is the ratio of pages indexed to unique crawled pages.
If a page gets crawled by Googlebot, that doesn’t guarantee it will show up in Google’s index. A low ratio can mean your site doesn’t carry much weight in Google’s eyes.

Engine Yield
Calculated for each search engine separately, this is how much traffic the engine delivers for every page it crawls.

Each search engine has a different audience size. This metric helps you fairly compare the referral traffic you get from each. In the Netconcepts study, we found that MSN and Yahoo! tend to crawl significantly more pages, but the yield per crawled page from Google is typically significantly higher.

As you optimize your site through multiple iterations, watch the above-mentioned KPIs to ensure you’re heading in the right direction. Those not privy to these metrics will have a much harder time capturing the "long tail" of SEO.

Maximizing Your Success With Free Tools

Posted by Cenay Nailor  | Published in Network Marketing

MySpace.com is a social “networking” site that is free to use and is not just for teeny-boppers any more. There are more than 100 Million people with profiles on MySpace, and that number is growing daily.

More and more business professionals are discovering the world of connecting with other business professionals using a “guarded gate”. MySpace has put all the tools in place to allow you to connect with others in your business, or your prospective customers, without giving out your email address. MySpace, the champion of your personal privacy, allows others to connect to you inside the “community” with tools like…

  • Friend Request
  • Add Comment
  • Send Message
  • Notify Friends
  • Instant Messaging
  • Groups

Another feature that really rocks in my book, is the “Bulletin” service. You can broadcast a message to everyone on your “friend list”. Done correctly, this allows you to market your message, white papers, articles and other helpful information to everyone on your list, by writing it one time.

Although MySpace is pretty easy to use, there is a learning curve. You can’t expect to learn everything there is to know about MySpace in an afternoon. In fact, several months later, I am still discovering new features and new ways to reach out. You also can’t expect to set it up once, and then walk away. Like any ROM (Reaching Out Method) you use, you have to be consistent in your efforts. You can’t get impatient. But done right, MySpace can be a source of prospects for both your business and your products.

I have created a MySpace profile, which you can see here. Cenay Nailor on MySpace . I invite you to come check it out, request to be my “friend”, and let me show you how to reach hundreds of people, passively but “on purpose”. Would it surprise you to know that in the last 30 days, I have gotten 32 “prospects” via a link to a capture page that people can reach from my MySpace profile?

Now, I didn’t get to that point over night. In the beginning, it was slow going… request a friend here, request a friend there. I got 2-3 requests every week or two from people who saw my profile by clicking on my picture in the comments I left for other people. Today though, I get 2-3 friend requests a day.  Today, I also received commissions on two products I am an affiliate for that sold through that capture page, while I was sleeping.

This amazing service and free method of prospecting is so cool, that I am creating a set of video’s (starting at creating your profile) that will help you get started. There are currently two videos in the set, another is almost done, and at least 10 more coming in the next couple of weeks since this is a such an involved topic.

If you would like to see the video’s, please visit my How-To Videos site at http://www.Videos.CenayNailor.com and select the “Social Networking” link in Categories. To be notified whenever I post a new video, please sign up for Notifications by completing the form on the right when you get to the page. There is also a link at the top called “Get Updates“.

Tools

Posted by Cenay Nailor  | Published in Featured

As a leader and the head of a growing network marketing organization, I frequently need web tools. As I find them, I will post them here so check back often. Some of these are free, some are small fees, and some are simply Must Have ‘s . Some I am an affiliate for so my recommendation might not seem like it counts for much, but frankly, I wouldn’t use or recommend the tool if I didn’t think it was a must have. Just wanted you to know…

Adwords Made Easy - by Brad Callen Adwords Made Easy
Google Adwords is an amazing tool to drive traffic to your website once you have it written (yes, I know it’s an ongoing process, never done) and ready to present to the public. However, there are pitfalls and traps that can suck your money up faster than you can say "I made a mistake". But with this tool, you can avoid those dangers and create successful Ad Campaigns like a pro. Click the link to see the free PDF file Adwords Made Easy in your web browser
SEO Elite by Brad Callen SEO Elite
This software is a must have if you are the webmaster of a site and attempting to drive quality targeted traffic to your page. This software will help with all the nitty-gritty SEO tactics and optimization and even allow you to compare your page to another to see how you stack up. If you are a webmaster, this is a must have, don’t pass go, don’t collect $200, stop what you are doing and get this!
Keyword Elite - by Brad Callen Keyword Elite
Companion Tool for SEO Elite and/or Adwords ad campaigns (but not a requirement), this tool will take a lot of the work and *guess-work* out of knowing what keywords you should be targeting for your *business/product/service* promotions. I personally use this tool every single day. The link shown above also contains video’s to allow you to see the product in action. Another must have!
Article Submitter by Brad Callen Article Submitter
When you are attempting to drive traffic to your web page, there is nothing better than *free* traffic. Adwords will help you get started, but unless you really know what you are doing, can get quite expensive in a hurry. But when you are creating content for your website, consider publishing an Article and submitting it to 663 article directories available on the web. These can be used to drive traffic to your website because each article (and each reprint of your article) can contain a link back to you. These inbound links all help your Google page ranking, send people directly to your site, and increase your *authority* on the web. Another must have in my book.
Article Wizard Instant Article Wizard

If you are having trouble writing your own articles, then download this (fee based) tool. For only $67 you get software that will allow you to create articles on any subject in just a few minutes. So, you can write your own, pay someone at eLance.com or Guru.com anywhere from $10 to $50 per article, or you can use this software and instantly get *Expert* status articles for a one time fee. I would qualify this one as a must have for any web-master looking to put original content on their site.

Unblockable Instant Popover Generator Instant PopOVER
You only have a few seconds to capture the mind of your prospect. People are impatient and want to be "woowed" right away. They’re forced to make quick evaluations. And if they don’t like what they see initially, they’re going to get bored and leave. So the burning question is "How can YOU steal your visitors’ attention long enough for them to see your offer?" I’ve got just the answer. It’s called Instant PopOVER and it makes eye-opening sticky notes and unblockable pop ups that your visitors will eat up like candy! In the few seconds that you’re visitor is present, opt-ins can be gained, sales can be made, and deals can be closed. Another must have for your web-tool arsensal
Magnetic Sponsoring Magnetic Sponsoring

Driving Traffic To Your Business Opportunity

Posted by Cenay Nailor  | Published in Featured

I guess you would have to have been living under a rock (or just not surfing the Internet) for the past two years to NOT know about Google’s Adwords feature, but I thought I would spend a few minutes explaining how to drive traffic to your business opportunity page.

While there are a few methods (we will cover them all in later posts) to do this, none is as quick or effective as using one of the largest *in-place* methods available, Google Adwords.

Here’s how it works… you research what keywords you want to advertise for (keywords are what the people searching Google use to get results), build an ad, bid on the keywords and then turn on the tap. Instant traffic flows to your web site.

Sounds easy doesn’t it?
