Over time, your blog evolves (hopefully). This means category names change, posts are updated, files move or subdirectories are deleted. What happens when someone clicks a link to a post or file that is no longer there?
They get a 404 Error.
Even with a Custom 404 Error Page, you didn’t deliver the content they thought they were getting. So they might leave.

I know you thought you’d never hear me say this, but a plugin isn’t always the best way to handle a small change in your Wordpress Theme. Especially since each plugin adds it’s own load time to the overall page load time. Fast = visitors stay longer.
Come on, we are a generation of short-attention spanned humans, struggling to assimilate the thousands of bits of information that flow like a river into our awareness. The longer a page takes to load, the less inclined we are to look at other content on a site. One slow page, especially the main page, and most folks will pack up their little red wagon and move on.

Converting An Existing Blog To Affiliate Theme
There are a lot of Wordpress Themes out there, but none that could make affiliate marketing easy. Until now.
I recently purchased Affiliate Theme by Unique BlogDesigns to give it a whirl. Before getting the Affiliate Theme, I had to find a Wordpress theme that somewhat matched my *market*, and then make extensive edits and upgrades to make it work. Getting the Affiliate Theme was like getting an *Easy Button* for affiliate marketing.

Its true. Fancy blogs look good, but they take time to load on your visitors browser, and that can cost you. If it takes too long to load, that little voice in their head says “All the pages will take this long, do I really want to click the next link?”
At that point, you have lost them…many for good.
Although I have no hard numbers to back up this statement, I figure you have about 8 seconds. If they aren’t seeing real content delivered in 8 seconds, they are

If you are doing any type of marketing from your blog, I have a cool little trick that will help you *engage* your readers that isn’t quite as obvious as a 250 x 250 *ad* placed in front of them. They don’t see those unless they are specifically looking for a solution.
It’s called a Page Peel effect, and it allows you to place an ad *under* your page. If the reader clicks the little link in the upper right hand corner, it opens the whole ad in a unique and *fun* peel away effect.
This video will show you where to get the code, how to…

This short video will show you click by click and step by step exactly how to build up your internal linking structure and vote on your blog yourself.
Just to recap a couple of basics first…

You have started your Search Engine Optimization education and have learned that inbound links count as *votes* for your site when Google ranks you website. Come on, everyone knows this right?
So, how do you get those coveted inbound links?
You can surf for blogs in your niche that have a page rank, and contact them. You can then beg, borrow or wheedle a link from them. Good luck with that if you haven’t already established a relationship with them.
You can comment on their blog, on the posts that are most similar to the content you are posting. A good idea, but somewhat time consuming since it’s important when you comment, to add value to the conversation.
Or, you can use a built in …

Hi Cenay,
Great idea about the clinic. Yes, I think it should a LIVE clinic.
How much more difficult would it be to record the live events and then use them as posts for your blog and/or additions to your ‘videos by Cenay’ series?
I’m going to Tweet about this post right now!

Hey Cenay,
Great idea. I’d be interested to watch for sure. Prefer to have it recorded personally so I can digest the techie stuff at my own pace, (which as you know is pretty slow, lol)

This sounds like a great learning experience. A video done from the live feed might be a great way to do this. Someone like me most likely would have to refer back several times. Just a thought.
PS Teacher: Directly below the submit button, it says: A feed could not be found at http://www.paulettechristian.com. Looks like something isin’t working.

Hi Cenay,
A live clinic would be great, and as said above, it could be recorded, and posted later. Look forward to it. Its time to tweet it.

Either live or recorded would be fine. Most important is to save a good recording of everything you do so you can turn it into products for future customers/clients and review/tutorials for your present students, like me. :0) I love the way you teach and your show and tell methods. Anyone can learn from you, even an old truck driver like me.
Hugs,
